Electric cars can run on green energy, lowering our dependency on fossil fuels and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Not only are EVs great for the environment they can bring motorists substantial savings at the pumps. With gas prices soaring, a greater number of drivers are looking at the electric car as their next vehicle purchase.
Green vehicles have come a long way and technological advancements have managed to overcome many of the limitations that plagued early electric vehicles. The average modern EV has a range of about 200 miles on a single charge and has comparable power and speed to traditional cars. These machines are now a viable option for most drivers and can perform just as well.
With a greater number of electric cars on the road and more versatility, drivers are looking to get more enjoyment out of their EVs. A number of places have responded with support and developed sufficient infrastructure to ensure there are plenty of charging stations for a pleasant road trip for electric cars. Here are six EV friendly routes to enjoy.
1. Nashville to Natchez

3. Chicago to LA
If you’re looking for the epic American getaway you must take a drive along Route 66. Almost 2500 miles wind through eight states from Chicago to LA on this iconic road road trip. This legendary trek has been immortalized in movies and literature making it a landmark in its own right.
Parts of route 66 were decommissioned in 1985 but some sections of the original road are still in use. The whole drive is made with road trips in mind and there is a lot to see and do along the way. It’s best to take your time and give yourself a good two weeks for this journey.

4. San Francisco to San Diego
The Pacific Coast Highway between San Francisco and San Diego is one of the most beautiful drives you can take. Mountain views, ocean vistas, beaches, and more. It’s a drive that you can make in about 10 hours but you’ll need a lot more time to explore state parks, pioneer outposts, all types of restaurants, surfing towns, and the glitz of Hollywood.
There is no shortage of charging stations along the Pacific Coast Highway or in many parts of California for that matter. Plenty locations have fast charging capabilities to keep EV running. Even electric vehicles with limited range can make this drive.
5. Victoria to St. John’s
The Trans Canada Highway is over 4500 miles long and runs from Victoria on the shores of the Pacific to St. John’s on the Atlantic coast. It passes through nine provinces as well as many major Canadian cities. This is a once in a lifetime kind of road trip that showcases some of the best that Canada has to offer.

A fantastic road trip for electric cars needs plenty of power and the Trans Canada Highway delivers. Several sections along this route are some of the most dense networks of EV chargers in the country.
